Recognizing our Broward Volunteers

By Paula Prendergast

Broward Chapter Executive Director.

The 2016 Volunteer Recognition event for the Broward County Chapter was held at the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club on May 25, 2016. It was a celebration of the hard work in the community and deep passion our volunteers have for the mission of the American Red Cross.

The Home Fire Preparedness Campaign in Broward County has been a success. So far this fiscal year, volunteers have installed 965 smoke alarms and helped hundreds of families create Home Fire escape plans. Our Disaster Action Team volunteers have responded to 199 incidents providing immediate needs of over 600 people. With the 2016 Hurricane Season already here, our volunteers are making final preparations – and so should you.
