A team of students from Spring Creek Elementary School in Bonita Springs stopped by the Lee County Red Cross to deliver contributions they received as part of a unique disaster fundraiser. Student Jamye Moreno, age 10, had the idea to raise money to help relief efforts following Hurricane Isaac. Jamye, along with fellow students Madison O’Neil, Charlie Dimmitt, Alli Dimmitt and Jhordand Ruiz created and sold Panther Paw cutouts, which they sold at school for $1-$5. The team eventually raised $350, which they donated Monday to the American Red Cross for Isaac relief efforts. Red Cross CEO Heidi Ruster personally thanked the students during the visit and told them how much their hard work means to those affected by the storm.
