Gift Planning – Nov/Dec Volunteer Newsletter
Great news – IRA charitable gift transfers are back!
And there is still time for you to make a unique contribution to the American Red Cross for 2011 that can help save lives in your community and around the world … but you must act by December 31, 2011.
Congress extended the law allowing people who have Individual Retirement Accounts – and who are age 70½ or older – to make gifts through their IRAs to qualified charitable organizations, such as the American Red Cross, up to a maximum amount of $100,000.
To make a 2011 IRA gift before the expiration date and have it count as a qualified contribution, contact the custodian or trustee of your account as soon as possible. Please notify us so that we may ensure proper transfer and receipting of your contribution.
For more information, contact our local Gift Planning Officer, Bobbi Larson by email at LarsonBo@usa.redcross.org or call (800) – 446-3771.
Remember you still have time to plan your gift for maximum benefit to both you and the American Red Cross.
Give the gift that will save the day when the next disaster strikes. When a neighbor’s house burns down. When someone needs lifesaving blood, or the comfort of a helping hand, your planned gift today will turn heartbreak into hope tomorrow for someone who needs it most.
