Newsletter – Disaster Services – Carlene
Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations go to:
— Ann Boehm for her promotion by National Headquarters to Manager of Staff Relations. In addition she has become Staff Relations Manager for Florida.
— Robin Moore for her promotion by NHQ to Manager for Client Casework.
Both are very deserving of this promotion and a reflection of the high quality of volunteers in our Chapter.
As usual when disaster strikes our volunteers step right up to help. During and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, many of our volunteers have deployed to help those in need in the North East. Tom Lee and Richard Nye drove the ERV to Maryland during the storm taking back roads to avoid the stormy weather. Linda Savage deployed to New Jersey as a Nurse. Tom Burden was sent to North Carolina for Bulk Distribution. Frank Boehm and Ron Green went to Virginia for Logistics and Warehousing. Kathy Maloney is currently in her third location in New Jersey– switched from FSI to Staff Lodging. She should be returning around September 21st. Ann Boehm is currently in Connecticut for Staffing. Tom Lee and Richard Nye have been reassigned to Middletown, NY. This is a reminder to make sure you keep your availability updated in the DSHR system, and that you have all the necessary classes for your activity of interest.
We will be holding an art contest for painting murals on the storage container. If you know of an artist that might be interested please have them contact the Chapter. There will be two artists chosen (one for each side of the container). The container will be treated for rust and primed. The area to be painted is 7’ ½” by 19’ ½”. The painting should depict a scene of Red Cross volunteers in action. It can be CPR, Service to the Armed Forces, responding to a fire, feeding, etc., that depicts any Red Cross activity.
