Monitoring Hurricane Irene

We’ve been monitoring the progress of Hurricane Irene, as some predictions place the storm close to our coast later this week. And although nothing is certain yet, we’re still making sure our supplies are stocked and our volunteers ready to go should we need to respond. We’ve touched base with all of our vendors to ensure food is in place, and our volunteer leaders are calling out to their teams to make sure they are in ready to go if needed.

As we continue to prepare and watch the storm, we want to encourage all of you to do the same. If you don’t have a Disaster Preparedness Kit then NOW is the time to make one…and if you already have one in place (kudos to you!) then take some time to check your stock for things like dead battery or expired food. If you don’t have your evacuation plan in place, then take some time to make one. Also make sure your family also knows where you will go and what they should bring. Lastly, keep following the news to get the most up-to-date information. For more tips on how you can Get a Kit, Make a Plan and Be Informed check out this link.
