Post-deployment pictures from volunteers
More than 2,800 Red Cross workers are on the ground in the South – helping the people along the Mississippi River and those affected by the tornadoes that tore through entire communities. Many of our local volunteers (who deployed during the initial stages of the recovery process) are starting to return home from their two-week assignments, and the stories and photos they are coming back with are heartbreaking.
These particular photos come from one of our volunteers who went to Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Click the image for more photos:
Although some of our volunteers have reached the end of their deployments, the relief operations continue. Dozens of local Red Cross workers are still on deployment, assisting with the overall response and helping the thousands of people affected by operating shelters, distributing clean-up items, serving food and more.
