Update from Betty Conley in Alabama

Betty Conley one of our nurses deployed to Alabama reports back: She has been assigned to work at a service center in Guntersville, Alabama.  It’s about half way betweem Birmingham and Huntsville.  She’s been very busy primarily replacing medications and doing first aid.  Where she is now the damage is sporadic as tornados tend to be but absolutely terrible where they did hit. She spent her first night in a staff shelter and now drives about 40 miles to a Motel.

Most of the people in the area need food as they have used up what they had or it spoiled.  There is no electricity in the area.  There is a Red Cross distribution center near where she is with water, ice and heatermeals. Thousands of people are now homeless with their communities demolished.  We will continue to deploy our Lee County volunteers to the areas hit hardest. Our hearts go out to all of these people that have lost their homes and loved ones.
