Japanese Earthquake: A Little More than a Month Later
It is hard to believe that is has been a little more than one month since the massive 9.0 earthquake rocked Japan, triggering a devastating tsunami. Donations made from our area are now being used by the Japanese Red Cross to purchase Appliance Kits for pre-fabricated homes that are going up in three of the hardest hit Prefectures in Japan: Miyagi, Fukushima and Iwate.
The appliance package consists of six items, including a refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, rice cooker, hot water dispenser and television. All are items that help make a house a home, and in the case of the television, a vital information tool before, during and after a disaster.
Take a look at this video about one of the first families to received their appliance package from the Japanese Red Cross on April 8, 2011.
