“And the Red Cross is Helping the Family”: Explained

Many times at the end of a news story involving a family displaced by disaster you will hear, “…and the Red Cross is helping the family,” but what does that mean?  The student reporters at EIVNews at Emerson University in Boston set out with Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) Members as they responded to a fire.  The same exact thing happens in our community, on average, every 27 hours — minus the heavy winter jackets and snow — but their work has just as much of a profound effect on our displaced neighbors.
