Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course

Now, whatcha gonna do?

  • That inexperienced hunter in the next camp over thought your buddy was a deer and shot him in the chest with an arrow. Help is at least two hours away, if your cell phone worked.
  • Your son cut his thigh real deep with his new fillet knife. You are fishing 30 miles out to sea and it’s choppy. He’s going into shock and passing out.
  • You’re kayaking on Estero Bay with a group and one of the kayaks is swamped by a wake from a big boat. Annie panics and tries unsuccessfully to swim to shore. Cilvilization is only a couple of miles away–through the mangroves.
  • Timmy thought it would make a neat You Tube video jumping over a camp fire with lighter fluid on his butt. (Sweat pants don’t burn do they?)  You’re the only sober one in a camp ground on Fisheating Creek on a Saturday night.
  • You and your hydrologist partner are taking the last monitor well reading in Corkscrew Swamp, and your truck is stuck in sugar sand. That log your partner wedged under the tire for traction hit him in the head when you gunned the engine. It’s getting dark and SR82 is 3 1/2 miles away.
