Welcome to the Local Red Cross Blog!

The American Red Cross takes pride in being the world’s leading humanitarian organization, a term that describes our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. But besides explaining the reason we operate, “humanitarian” also describes the people who support us in our vital work.

Throughout the Palm Beaches-Treasure Coast region we have more than 3,900 people who donate their time and talent by volunteering. And it is these volunteers who truly represent the human side of the American Red Cross. They are the ones who wake up in the middle of the night to bring aid to the family across town whose house has just caught fire. They are the ones training local lifeguards the critical First Aid skills needed for their job. They are the ones who open and staff shelters during a hurricane. They are the ones responding to national disasters, traveling with us across the county to help others in their hour of greatest need. They are the ones assisting our Service to the Armed Forces division, which provides emotional and logistical support to our military around the world.  They are the ones who keep us inspired, who keep us running smoothly, and who keep us rooted in our vital role.

We are constantly looking for ways to remind our volunteers how much we appreciate them, and how much their service has touched the lives around them. All our volunteers do an exceptional job, and we thought this blog would be a perfect opportunity to share their stories with you.

So grab a cup of coffee, sit down with us a moment and see how the people at the American Red Cross are making a difference down the street, across the county and around the world.
