Financial Development   Newsletter Jan/Feb

We are working hard to realize our budgeted revenue for FY11.  The economic times have made this difficult.  We, luckily, have some incredible devoted donors who are always there for us, including some of our volunteers who are also able to donate their treasure with their time, THANK YOU!!

We continue to try to diversify our revenue, but our largest portion of the 1.1 million dollars we raise, annually, are from individual donors who give from $1 to $500,000  in a variety of ways by mail, online, bequests, stocks, and other methods.  We are continuing to work hard to share the opportunity and difference of a donation to the American Red Cross.  Please do not hesitate to ask questions about your donation, how it is utilized or to encourage others to support our cause.  Check out the below letter from Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott in encouragement of our Heroes Campaign that we hope to raise at least $50,000.

Hello from Sheriff Scott –

I truly hope your holidays and New Year continue to be bright.  You probably realize that many do not have as much hope in the upcoming year.  Families like the Hirsch’s in Cape Coral: These four adults and three small children recently lost their home to a fire. The blaze destroyed all contents and there was no insurance. The Red Cross provided the family with lodging and funds for food, clothing and shoes along with long-term referrals to our United Way partners.

Financial difficulties hit the Martell family, who gave to our country through service in the Army in Afghanistan but had a hard time transitioning to civilian life. These families were given a ray of hope due to Heroes with the Red Cross who are generous donors and incredible volunteers.  The Sheriff’s office and first responder partners are always thankful for the work the Red Cross does in providing preparedness and support to us and our community.

Please consider joining our rank of donors.  I am proud to act as the Honorary Chair for the American Red Cross Heroes Campaign and to be a Hero as we, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, have stepped up to support our American Red Cross for this worthwhile campaign.  We fully recognize the strength of the American Red Cross brand and the benefits of affiliation.

The Heroes for the American Red Cross Campaign is an opportunity for your family, business, organization, community or church to step up and provide much-needed support.

Please review the enclosed materials and the diverse ways you could support your community with a minimal $1,000 donation or more.  Please fill out the pledge card and commit to be a Hero. Please visit the Red Cross website at to log on. Use this site to measure and solicit support for your team’s goal and also see how other teams in Southwest Florida are progressing.

More information and opportunities to network with other Heroes will be available at our kickoff event on January 19, 2011 at the Edison Restaurant.  Please join us!

Pason Gaddis – Florida Weekly

Marty Howard – Community Volunteer, Philanthropist

In the coming weeks, each dancer will have their own personal webpage designed to help collect and measure donations. These webpages will be accessible through the Lee County Red Cross website,
